"The Isles are where the elements go to dance. Sea and sky and stone swirl together, often harmoniously, sometimes furiously, rarely predictably. In the ethereal light that so often accompanies a Hebridean sunrise or sunset, the boundaries between the land and the waters that lash it seem to dissipate. Instead of a battle of elements, it becomes a chorus."
- David C. Weinczok, The History Behind Game of Thrones
The final project for the 12-Week MattePaint course posed the challenge of independently deciding on and creating a composition, as well as applying a lot of the previously learned matte painting techniques in Photoshop, such as set extension, matching perspective, colour grading, element integration, etc.
The location and elements I chose for it were inspired by my recent travels to Scotland, and I'm happy to share my process and final outcome!
